What is the purpose of the smart charge function in battery chargers?
On chargers, the smart charge function checks the charging conditions of the batteries, the temperatures of both the batteries and the charger, and so on. This enables the charger to charge each battery individually under optimal conditions.
When compared to chargers without this feature, this function cuts charging time by 5%. Remember that charging time varies according to environmental factors and ambient temperature*. Depending on the condition of the batteries, the smart charge function may not function (e.g. When a battery has degraded).
