Can I replace Ni-Cd batteries with Ni-MH batteries?
Devices without a charging function
Yes, you can use Ni-MH batteries instead of Ni-Cd because they have the same nominal voltage level (1.2V).
However, because of differences in discharging characteristics, Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries cannot be mixed simultaneously in appliances that require more than one rechargeable battery. In this case, all batteries must be the same type and capacity.
Devices with a charging function for Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries
No, Ni-MH cannot be used instead of Ni-Cd in appliances with a charging function for Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries.
The reason: the Ni-MH will degrade quickly because it will be charged under Ni-Cd charging conditions (which are different to those of the Ni-MH).
